Most babies end up with diaper rash at some point during their diaper days, some more and/or worse than others. The agony a child can be in can make a parent feel awful and helpless. I have a friend who’s son seemed to get a sore, red, and even a welted bottom on a regular basis. The poor little guy would shriek at baths, diaper changes or even just sitting down. It was heart breaking. (More on this later.)
Buying over the counter rash creams may be convenient when sudden diaper rash arises, but are they the best choice for your child? Alongside with working to get rid of diaper rash after the fact, as a parent I think we all agree it’s even better to prevent it. Diaper rash is most often caused when a baby has been exposed to stool or urine for a prolonged amount of time. There are a multitude of rash creams on the market that claim to aid in relieving a child from this irritation. But, did you know that most of these products are full of chemicals and dyes? Up to 70% of what is used on the skin is absorbed into the blood stream, and applying toxins to your child's pour little soar tooshy repetitively can have lasting effects. Sometimes these can even be open soars, which makes it even easier to get into your child’s blood stream. These facts should cause parents to think twice about what they are exposing their infants to.
In the long run, it pays to give your attention to the ingredients on these products as they can also irritate sensitive baby’s skin. They include dangerous substances such as:
- Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA): Used as a preservative and a known endocrine disruptor
- Boric Acid and Sodium Borate: Most commonly used as an antimicrobial agent, linked to reproductive toxicity
- Fragrance: Chemicals added to synthetic products to make their smell appealing. They are associated with allergies and organ system toxicity.
- Petrolatum: Is mineral oil jelly petroleum jelly and is used as a barrier to lock moisture in the skin. It is a carcinogen and linked to organ system toxicity.
- Parabens-propyl, methyl, ethyl etc: Are the most widely used preservative in cosmetics. They easily penetrate the skin and can mimic estrogen, and can act as a potential hormone system disruptor.
There are better and more natural options that are safe for baby’s precious skin. I recommend using a tallow based product and pure lavender essential oil. Tallow is purified and rendered beef fat taken from grass-fed cows which naturally contain vitamins A, D, E, K and Omega 3’s which naturally provide the vitamins needed to promote healing. Tallow also has the amazing ability to provide a protective layer between your baby’s skin and any harmful toxins leaving it soft and free of toxin penetration. Lavender essential oil is gentle enough for baby’s skin and provides a calming effect which can also relax a fussy baby and encourage sleep all while offering healing benefits.
The benefits of tallow and lavender essential oil greatly outweighs those of using a similar over the counter product. Tallo Health is committed to providing healthy solutions and alternatives to harmful products that are good for families. Compared to the complicated list of ingredients found on the backs of other products, the simplicity of “Oh, Baby Tallo” (only containing 3 powerful ingredients) provides ease of mind in assuring your little one is not being exposed to harsh substances, while providing relief.
The even greater thing is that Oh, Baby Tallo can be used for multiple other conditions:
- Bee Sting / Insect Bite
- Minor Burns
- Eczema / Dermatitis
- Dry or Chapped Skin
- Chapped or Sunburned Lips
- Hay Fever
- Cold Sores

- And of course, Baby’s Butts
I talked about my friend’s son earlier who was squirming in pain from a sore bottom. As soon as I found out how much pain he was in, I rushed over to their house. As we began to change his diaper I watched him clench up just waiting for the pain. I soothed him a little and as soon as I started applying the Oh, Baby Lavender Tallo, his face changed. He looked at me with such relief and didn’t move a muscle as I applied it. We put a new diaper on and that little boy immediately turned into a different kid. He was smiling and crawling around and sitting and playing, so happy. It not only gave him instant relief, but his bottom was almost completely cleared up within 3-4 days.
